Blog Series Announcement

Data Integration

Over the next few weeks I will be posting about some interesting topics that are core to Haddington Solutions business model.

I will firstly be exploring the new service recently rolled out by Microsoft, called Windows365.

This new service will enable our clients to spin up a fully Windows enabled cloud computer that we can use to run a variety of Data Analysis and Data Integration jobs.

This will enable our customers to be completely in control of their own data while also adhering to company wide Windows security policies.

The next blog will take you through the set up of the statical software package, R.

R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. It compiles and runs on a wide variety of UNIX platforms, Windows and MacOS.

We will use R to call an API through a package in the software to gather some data into an output file on our Windows365 machine mentioned above.

The next part of the blog will be to set up a freeware ETL tool called Talend.

Talend is free tool we will be using to orchestrate the running of our R script created earlier.

There is a considerable amount of set up required to actually get Talend to run on a Windows Machine.

I will walk you through this step by step after which, we will then connect this software to your Salesforce Org.

We will cover some best practices on data migration and data integration with respects to our Enterprise CRM, Salesforce.

We will use Talend to run and process the R script above and then upload the records into Salesforce.

After that all we have to do is schedule the job to run on our Windows 365 machine, then watch the data update in our Salesforce Org.

This will be a 4 part series in which I will aim to also create a video walkthrough or demonstration of whats being discussed in each part.
